Abstract

This chapter aims to give a general introduction into a series of several lectures to follow, which are dedicated to the fundamental and applied aspects of high-pressure research of pharmaceuticals, biomimetics and biomolecules. This is a relatively recent field in high-pressure science, as compared with more traditional applications for physics, geosciences, materials sciences. However, its importance is rapidly growing. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
