Abstract
Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is defined as the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values. This chapter describes the key principles of EBM and the process of implementing them in clinical practice. Subsequently, it highlights the favorable effects of EBM, while refuting some of its common criticisms. Finally, the challenges of EBM at its current state are presented and further implications about the future of EBM are made.
