Abstract

The documentation of patient outcomes after intensive care unit stays has long been an important task for the intensivist. Mortality was the first parameter to be utilized with the introduction of the APACHE and SAPS mortality prediction scores. Mortality, however, is difficult to predict in individuals and at present must be group based. Morbidity, however, can be individualized and has gained a significant amount of recent interest.
