Suicide is a leading cause of death globally, especially in the adolescent population. A complex interplay of predisposing genetic and environmental factors in relation to abnormal biological processes contributes to the causation of suicide. There has been significant research conducted to discover the neurobiological processes that contribute to suicide. This chapter serves to review the key predisposing factors for suicide as well as provide insight into the developments of the neurobiological causes of suicide that have been uncovered.
