Abstract

Orthopedic trauma has evolved alongside the Ilizarov method over the past 50 years, and presently, both are considered subspecialties within orthopedic surgery. This chapter demonstrates the natural complement of these two fields on each other in managing acute and late reconstruction of fractures. The ability to comprehensively describe and analyze coronal, sagittal, and axial malalignment, so integral to the Ilizarov method, has fostered the development of sound surgical solutions.
