Abstract

Gas mixing is studied in fluidized beds of large sand and dolomite particles with mean diameters of 1. 3 mm to 4. 0 mm. A tube array of . 050 m cylinders in 0. 10 m equilateral triangular pitch was used to study the effects of tubes. The dispersion of tracer gas injected continuously through a line source above the distributor plate was determined from instantaneous concentration measurements. The time average tracer concentration at points within the bed is successfully predicted by a simple disersion model.
