Abstract

This chapter will address three key issues. Firstly, the field of conflicts of interest in biomedical research will be clarified, which concerns both the type of activity concerned and the type of actors involved, since these conflicts are not specific to relations between physicians or healthcare institutions and pharmaceutical companies, but concern all the actors in the research system. Secondly, it will be useful to present the diversity of the issues at stake in these conflicts in view of the specific nature of biomedical research. Finally, a critical analysis of the legal and ethical tools put in place to combat these conflicts will be carried out.
