The purpose of this article is to present the methodological strategy used to obtain evidence of validity of the internal structure of the University Teaching Skills Evaluation Questionnaire (Spanish acronym CECD) based on students' opinions. The CECD was applied to representative samples of undergraduate students at two Mexican universities (n1=511 and n2=503) and confirmatory factor analysis was used as the analytical procedure. The confirmatory modeling included identification of the model, specification of the model, selection of measurements, evaluation of criteria of goodness of fit, and modification of the measurement model. The results helped to confirm the fit of the hypothetical model with the support of the CECD, and we observed a bifactor structure with acceptable indices of fit and indices of internal consistency above.90 in both samples. The theoretical and empirical foundation of the CECD supports its use in the university settings described.
