Abstract

The chapter offers a first introduction to the field of geographies of schooling in the light of current literature from geography and neighboring disciplines. Several dimensions within the complex interrelation between education and space are scrutinized from different disciplinary perspectives. With a clear focus on spatiality and the territoriality of schooling and education this chapter offers an overview over the broad thematic, methodological and disciplinary approaches that have been undertaken in the diverse research projects present in this volume. The authors conclude with a brief outlook on future research in this emerging field.
