We saw our first feminist perspectives develop during the age of enlightenment, and in a general sense these theories share similarities, but they also vary regarding the root causes of oppression experienced by women. For instance, the most basic explanation of liberal feminist theory might note that the root cause of oppression is institutional inequality, focusing primarily on legislative equity.
