Abstract

This paper proposes a methodology to develop life cycle - value stream mapping (LC-VSM) to evaluate sustainability using lean manufacturing approach. This new tool will analyze all activities in the life cycle perspective, including manufacturing, distribution, and post-used. The approach is validated through a mini case study in a beverage firm. The key contribution of the study is a practical framework to identify non-value added activities at all of the stages. This tool can identify the sources of problems in terms of economic, environmental, and social aspects, both internally and externally. This article suggests the improvement plan to improve the sustainability performance of the company.
