Abstract

This paper gives an overview on nanoscale devices and electromagnetic telecommunication between them. Nanonetworks guarantee new advancements in the branch of biomedical, security and industry. Wireless Nanosensor Networks (WNSNs) consists of nanosensors equipped with nanotransceivers and nanoantennas. The Wireless Nanosensor Network is one of the most complex networks because of its low power sensing devices and peculiarities of nanotransmitters and nanoreceivers, which operate in the range of Terahertz Frequency Band (0.1–10 THz). The existing communication protocols of WSNs are not suitable for WNSNs because of their constrained communication capacities. We propose a static cluster-based localization algorithm for WNSNs, this is an improvised version of pulse-based distance accumulation (PBDA) localization algorithm. The femtosecond-long pulse is used as a communication signal in the proposed algorithm for terahertz channel based on on–off keying (OOK) modulation. The proposed model produces two advantages; one is improving normalized residual energy and the other is reduced average delay for nodes. Simulations are performed in MATLAB.
