Abstract

The object of this handbook is to provide a source of information on all aspects of vegetation management for both supervisors and maintenance personnel. It will also be useful to administrators in order to increase their understanding of the scope of roadside vegetation management. Vegetation includes the basic turf-grass ground cover as well as shrubs, trees and other types of temporary or permanent plant materials. Management refers to the art and science of caring for the vegetation, including mowing, fertilizing, weed control, renovation, reseeding, pruning, insect and disease control, replanting, and other procedures for maintaining an attractive right-of-way conducive to safe and efficient movement of traffic.
