Abstract

The European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) has been proposed (and officially recognized in our country) as a European alternative to the dominant indices that have a knownAnglo-Saxon bias. The aim is to raise the visibility of European research in the Humanities and in various areas of the Social Sciences, in order to improve coverage of the cultural and linguistic diversity of our continent. We analyze some of the circumstances affecting the results of the recently updated list of ERIH ('revised'), with special emphasis on the field of education. The results demonstrate the need to improve the criteria for entry into the index (completeness and quality) if ERIH is to achieve its goals. © 2013 CSIC.
