In this Chapter, we suggest analytical and decision options that have not been applied to studies of lunar structures, but offer potentially powerful frameworks to take into account the broad set of issues that are part of the design process. In particular, we suggest the Dempster-Shafer Theory, and performance-based engineering. The published literature does not show the application of the Dempster-Shafer Theory to lunar habitat design. Performance-based engineering has been suggested as an approach, but is, as yet, in the early stages of research [1, 2].
