Abstract

Temporary architecture is recognized as a means to reach innovation and experimentation in architecture: when it is located in a cultural landscape, it can be an instrument for valorisation of the site, as well. The aim of this paper is to define a meta-project of a temporary pavilion for chamber music in sensitive cultural places, according to the performance based architecture design methodological approach. Moreover, for this purpose, it is studied the use of aluminium, trying to find new fields of application for this material in cultural heritage. A temporary pavilion can reach many purposes: (a) it can be an answer to the requirements of spaces for music (i.e. acoustics); (b) in a dynamic vision, it can renew the cultural life of a region; (c) it can involve actors from the cultural scene, administration, private sector, cultural heritage; (d) it can represent, in case of calamities, a low-impact easily assembled meeting place for collective functions.
