Abstract

In 2014, a minimally invasive approach to the anatomical resection of early stage NSCLC should be considered standard surgical care. Though no randomized data is available, the weight of the evidence suggests lesser morbidity and at least equivalent oncological outcomes when comparing to the results of classical open thoracotomy resections. The minimally invasive options of VATS (video-assisted thoracic surgery), robotic assisted thoracic surgery and uniportal VATS will be reviewed and discussed.
