Abstract

The seroprevalence of IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii was assessed in 56 non-hemophiliac human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected adult patients in Japan. Seroprevalence of T. gondii infecton was only 5.4%, which is lower than reported for most other countries. Given these results, patients in Japan displaying lesions of the central nervous system and antibodies to T. gondii have a high probability of toxoplasmosis. © 2007 The Japanese Society of Internal Medicine.
