Abstract

In order to make online news retrieval more appropriate in respect to end user, it is necessary to make machines aware of a greater part of the underlying semantics. Ontology will help to realize this future of web. In this paper, we have worked upon how to represent Educational News RSS Feeds by using an ontological structure. We are also incorporating International Press Telecommunication Council (IPTC) standards in our design since IPTC has proposed various standards for news industry to make the system more interoperable. Our main objective is to make a structure which can satisfy the specific demands of various categories of end users of the Educational domain. Designed ontology is then tested to meet various criteria mentioned in the paper. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
