Abstract

The studies regarding the use of industrial waste have been intensifying under the pressure of environmental organizations, scarcity of natural resources, seeking certifications to market gains and minimizing environmental impact. This study developed a new composite base of industrial waste such as wood ash, water treatment sludge (ETA) and the production of lime waste with mechanical properties that meet the requirements of the BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF TECHNICAL STANDARDS - NBR 15270- 1/2005 NBR 15270-2 / 2005 and NBR 5739/2007, aiming its use in building construction without the addition of Portland cement. Compressive strengths varied from the 2.35 16.48 MPa. The water absorption rate of the samples tested also met the standards applied, demonstrating that during the curing time was possible to decrease the porosity lime hydration. The results of the compressive strength test showed variations during the curing time can be justified by the presence of organic material in the WTS and the size of the wood ash particles during homogenization were not completely destroyed. Despite the variations observed in the results, the resistance of composites fall into the rating for cylindrical concrete blocks and ceramic blocks for masonry.
