Abstract

This chapter examines the Xiang’er commentator’s methodology, how he works with the Daodejing, and how his “commentary” text fits into the evolving commentarial stream that leads to the approaches taken by Xuanxue thinkers, or at the very least, how it sets the stage for the way in which they work.
