Abstract

The number of older people is growing significantly and accounts for an ever-increasing percentage of the global population [1]. Online social networks are continuously gaining more relevance and presence in everyday life for communication, work and social interaction. Despite those trends, there is little knowledge on how older people use online social networks, and the benefits derived from it or the possible negative impacts [2], [3]. This paper examines how older people use online social networks and the factors which influence this use. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
