Nutritional status of adolescents and young adults varies with the geographical location, culture and socio economic status of the countries in which they reside. The socio-ecological determinants of health and nutrition vary in different parts of the world. International immigration and refugee and asylum seeking conditions add new stressors to the physiological challenge of coping with rapid biopsychosocial changes of adolescence. These have implications on health and nutrition in adolescence, adulthood and future generations. Adolescent health professionals all over the world should provide culturally sensitive care to this population.
