Abstract

Contextual teaching and learning (CTL) is a learning model that focuses on the contribution of students to have choices in finding the material being studied and linking it to real situations to support students in applying it in their lives. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on the activities and learning outcomes of students in first grade (X class) of Senior High School of SMA Negeri 1 Aek Songsongan with a sample of 69 students. The research approach uses a quantitative approach, with an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Collecting data using pre-test and post-test scores consisting of six cognitive insights according to Bloom's taxonomy, namely aspects of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating. And data collection also uses observation sheets to see student learning activities. In the instrument, the observation sheet for student learning activities includes six indicators, namely indicators of paying attention, asking and answering, expressing opinions, listening, solving problems, and being enthusiastic in participating in learning. The data obtained will be presented in the form of numbers and then analyzed using SPSS 24. The results of the research indicate that there is a significant effect on student learning activities after being given treatment using the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model. the average value of student learning activities in the experimental class is good with a percentage value of 85.47% and the average value of student learning activities in the control class is quite good with a percentage value of 71.87%. The results also showed that there was a significant effect on student learning outcomes after being given treatment using the CTL model with the mean value of learning outcomes in the experimental class was 75.18 and the mean value in the control class were 60
