Abstract

An extended overview of the application of Statistics and Data Mining based significant works on different dimensions of cricket data is discussed in this chapter. Being a team sport, even a single match of cricket generates huge data both in terms of players as well teams. Cricket suddenly been blessed by Twenty20 tournaments sponsored by franchisees where domestic as well as foreign players participate. This has given birth to a new era in cricket and a feast for cricket analysts. Franchisee based cricket has led to the formation of cricket teams based on player’s auction from a pool of domestic and international stars. Thus, decision making in cricket has gained importance and so has increased the role of Statistics in cricket.
