Abstract

Intisari— Pada penelitian ini penerapan metode Taguchi digunakan untuk optimasi parameter yang mempengaruhi viskositas cat. Empat faktor yang dikendalikan yaitu jumlah air, viskositas slurry filler, jumlah pengental dan pH. L9 orthogonal array dipilih untuk mendapatkan setting parameter yang optimum agar dapat mengurangi variasi viskositas. Hasil analisis diperoleh dari Signal-to-Noise ratio terhadap respon viskositas cat dengan level yang optimum viskositas slurry 16-19 poise dan jumlah pengental 0,6%. Berdasarkan ANOVA, nilai signifikan dan persentase kontribusi dari masing – masing parameter diketahui bahwa jumlah pengental memiliki kontribusi yang maksimum terhadap viskositas cat. Abstract— In this study, The Taguchi method used to optimize parameters that affect paint viscosity. Four controlled factors the number of water, the slurry filler viscosity, the number of thickeners and pH. The L9 orthogonal array was selected to obtain optimum parameter settings, so that, viscosity variations reduced. The analysis was obtained from the Signal-to-Noise ratio to paint viscosity response with optimum viscosity slurry of 16-19 poise and 0.6% thickeners. Based on ANOVA, the significant value and percentage of each parameter showed that the number of thickeners has a maximum contribution to the paint viscosity.
