Recent developments in technology have led to significant improvements in standard care and quality of life for people with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), despite that achieving a recommended target of metabolic control is still challenging [1]. The main fields that have benefited from the release of new technologic devices are glucose monitoring and insulin delivery, with the possibility of integrating these into a closed-loop insulin delivery system (artificial pancreas) [2].
