Abstract

The liver is the second most common site of metastasis in the human body. Hepatic metastasis is found in up to 41% of cancer patients with metastatic disease (Pickren et al. 1982). The frequency of metastasis to the liver is not unexpected, given the significant volume of nutrient-rich blood that flows through the liver (by portal vein and hepatic artery).
