Abstract

Describes a finite difference algorithm used for simulation of a water wave generated by a piston type wavemaker moving at a constant speed in a channel. The model uses quadrilateral cells in which the pressure is constant. The solid element is a contour rather than a set of nodes. Presents some results using this explicit Lagrangian prediction algorithm, showing solitary wave run-up, wave breaking and overturning. (C.J.U.)
