Abstract

The article reports on original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their tier suppliers that are constructing major logistics centres directly at their plants in the U.S. as of October 2013. It cites the Nissan centre in Mississippi which aims to support inbound parts feeding and container operations. It adds that the Mercedes-Benz center in Alabama is being constructed for parts receiving, handling and sequencing, while General Motors is building one for sequencing and assembly in Michigan.
