Abstract

This study contributes to an update of the research focused on the socio-professional reality of Portuguese journalism, given the context of transformation of the media market. Based on a questionnaire survey carried out in 2015 among Portuguese journalists, which had 806 valid responses, an increase of social reconstitution and deterioration of work condition trends is acknowledged. By applying the Multiple Correspondence Analysis method, it was possible to segment the sample into five distinct groups, corroborating the notion of a profession stratified according to aspects of power, status, and economic and labor security.
