In this revision of the 1996 edition of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain guidelines edited by Jeffrey P. Okeson, de Leeuw (DDS, PhD; chair, Guidelines Committee, AAOP) updates health care professionals on evidence-based practices and the literature in the field. E.g., an entire chapter is now devoted to cervical disorders related to orofacial pain disorders. Following an overview of pain constructs and neuroanatomy associated with the hard and soft tissues of the head, face, and neck, chapters cover evaluation procedures, psychological factors, and therapies for specific disorders. The volume includes sample screening questions and an extensive glossary.
