Abstract

The research aimed at obtaining information on productivity, cost and efficiency of loading-unloading of several kinds of trucks in pulp-plantation forest. The result showed that productivity and efficiency of log-loading onto truck with 5 containers were higher than those onto truck with 2 containers but the difference of their costs was not significant. The productivity, efficiency and cost of log-loading onto truck with 5 containers were 540.014 m3.m/hour; 99.15%; and Rp 786.079/m3, respectively. While productivity and cost of log-loading onto truck of 30 tons capacity were higher and cheaper than those of 10 tons. Productivity, cost and efficiency of log-loading onto truck of 30 tons capacity were 301.817 m3.m/hour; Rp 112.569/m3 and 89.88%, respectively. Unloading of truck with 5 containers showed higher productivity and the cost was cheaper than truck with 2 containers. Unloading truck of 30 tons capacity showed higher productivity and the cost was cheaper than truck of 10 tons capacity. The productivity, cost and efficiency of log-unloading from truck with 5 containers were 1432,574 m3.m/hour; Rp 344,559/m3; 99,17%, respectively. While productivity, cost and efficiency of log-unloading from truck of 30 tons capacity were 1632,567 m3.m/hour; Rp 208,022/m3; 97,71%, respectively. Nevertheless, truck with 2 containers and truk of 10 tons capacity were still being used for some practical reasons such as high manoeuvrability in the field. The strength and weakness of loading equipment used for loading-unloading activities in the plantation forest should be taken into consideration to expedite better forest management.
