Abstract

Psychiatric rehabilitation provides a basis for vocational, economic, as well as social reintegration, and can be divided in medical, vocational, and social rehabilitation. Medical rehabilitation includes a holistic approach, considering, beyond treatment of disease, particularly the connection to context factors in order to enable the best possible rehabilitation success with regard to participation in social and vocational life. Therefore, medical rehabilitation links acute psychiatric treatment and vocational rehabilitation, aiming to avert, eliminate, or reduce impairment of participation in vocational and social life. Vocational rehabilitation focuses either on enhancing work-related competence or reducing institutionally organised requirements.
