Abstract

We will consider problems which are associated with the intensity of coherent magnetic scattering of neutrons. These problems relate to calculations of the intensity of the maxima resulting from known atomic and magnetic structures and, inversely, to the determination of parameters of a magnetic structure from a neutron-diffraction experiment. The absolute value of the magnetic moment of each of the atoms and the orientation of these moments in the crystal are considered the parameters of the magnetic structure; the position of the atoms and their thermal oscillations are assumed known from an independent experiment (nuclear scattering of neutrons or scattering of x-rays).
