Abstract

Heat exchangers are devices used to transfer heat between two or more fluids that are at different temperatures and that in most of the cases are separated by a solid wall. Heat exchangers are used in the process, power, transportation, air-conditioning and refrigeration, cryogenic, heat recovery, alternate fuels, and manufacturing industries and are key components of many industrial products available in the marketplace. Different types of heat exchangers are used in the industry, some of the most important types of which are shell and tube heat exchanger (STHE), compact and plate fin heat exchangers (PFHEs), etc.
