Abstract

Previous research has suggested that contextual factors are required to lead to an ironic interpretation of an utterance. The aim of the present study was to assess-in French-whether the presence of lexical markers influences the production of these contextual factors: allusion to a failed expectancy, negative attitude and presence of a victim.
