Abstract

Streaming multimedia may contain much more information than other data and should be processed steadily and continuously. Existing Multimedia Messaging Service(MMS) environment does not consider these characteristics of multimedia stream. Therefore, this may carry a heavy burden on the whole network and MMS system and deteriorate the overall service quality. For this reason, 'an extended MMS architecture' is proposed. Two new elements, the MMS proxy and the MMS Proxy Selection Agent(PSA), are added for transferring multimedia stream efficiently. Consequently, the overall load of the entire MMS core network and MMS system can be reduced. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
