Abstract

Simaroubaceae is represented in the Serra dos Carajás for two species belonging to Simaba (S. cedron and S. guianensis) and one belonging to Simarouba (S. amara). Only Simaba guianensis and Simarouba amara were recorded in the areas of cangas of the Serra, while S. cedron is present in the transitional areas between the canga vegetation and the adjacent "terra firme forest". Identification keys, morphological descriptions, photographs of species and taxonomic comments are presented for each species.
