MSG as a food flavour has risen controversy in society because MSG may have a negative impact on health. However, such additional food flavour can be used in a certain amount. Food flavour containing MSG is more acceptable by housewives whose role is to serve food for the family. Housewives have become a target of advertisement screened on television because they have much time watching television advertisement. This research is aimed to find out the knowledge and attitude of housewives in MSG, frequency and length of time of the food flavour advertisement screened on television, and the use of the flavour in a day. The research is qualitative research, and the interview had been used as a method of research. Twenty housewives in Kelurahan Maulafa, Kecamatan Maulafa, Kota Kupang had been taken as respondents for the research. The result of the research showed that the knowledge of the respondent on the MSG was still low. This was caused by limited access and information on their part. As a matter of the fact, there were 14 respondents who did not limit the frequency of using MSG in a day in accordance with the health standard.
