Abstract

According to professional regulations, every physician is bound by a duty to document their work1. The physician must keep the necessary records of findings made and measures taken in the exercise of his profession2.These are not just memory aids for the physician, but also serve the patient's interest in proper documentation. The patient must be granted access to the medical records upon request. Medical records are to be kept for a period, usually 10 years, after the conclusion of treatment.
