Abstract

This paper presents the methodology to make the electronic dictionary and the design and implementation of the electronic game terminology dictionary prototype system. Before constructing database on game industry, the electronic game terminology dictionary is necessary. To construct the corpus, we collect the game-related documents such as game marketing reports, game technology reports, game introduction documents, etc. To make the effective electronic dictionary, the standardization of the corpus data is needed. Thus, we construct the corpus using the TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) of the SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language). We extract the terminology from the corpus based on the frequency of term. And then we find the semantic relationships of the game terminology by the analysis and classification of the game terminology, which is called thesaurus. Based on the thesaurus, we can implement the semantic-based game terminology electronic dictionary. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
