Synonyms Abyssal peridotite; Abyssal serpentinite; Bastite; Mesh texture; Serpentine minerals; Serpentinite Definition "Serpentinization" is the process leading to the formation of serpentinites, metamorphic rocks derived from hydrous alteration of olivine-rich ultramafic rocks and consisting mainly of serpentine group minerals.
