Abstract

EGD plays an important role in diagnosis of gastric cancer. In Korea and Japan, EGD is accepted a major methods for early gastric cancer screening, however its accuracy can be influened by the competency of endoscopist, inspection time and endoscopic instruments. Screening EGD has led to increase the detection of early gastric cancer and improve the oveall survival of gastric cancer patients in these country. Although the clinical impact of EUS for advanced gastric cancer has been qustioned, still EUS is an useful tool for preoperative staging.
