Abstract

Effective process management is an essential success factor fororganizations. Especially the retail sector requires enterprises toimplement lean and efficient processes to remain competitive. However,the implementation of an appropriate process management is a challengingand error-prone endeavor. As a major reason for this the lack ofeffective and comprehensible methods has been identified. Moreover, dueto rising market dynamics, detailed knowledge of the internal businessprocesses is crucial to develop competitive advantage. Market trendshave to be identified and needs for action have to be established earlyto be prepared for market changes and to react accordingly. Therefore itis necessary that the company's processes are transparent and startingpoints can be identified quickly. This article aims to provide anapproach of how a company can record its processes in a meaningful wayto be able to improve them goal-oriented.
