Abstract

Epiphora may be the result of obstruction of the outflow tract, excessive tear production, lacrimal pump failure, or abnormalities of eyelid position or movement. With external dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), the lacrimal sac is directly incorporated into the lateral wall of the nasal cavity, allowing the canaliculi drain directly into the nose.
