Abstract

The article discusses ways to address the international food crisis as of 2009. Approximately 130 million people are said to have been added into the category of poverty due to the international food crisis. The increasing prices of agricultural commodities is one of the factors contributing to the food crisis. According to the author, international food security could not be achieved only by increasing food production noting that trade policies that strengthen financial support for agriculture are also needed.
