Abstract

It is shown that in order to obtain agreement with experiment for the ratio of the proton to neutron magnetic moment within the framework of the nonrelativistic quark model, the nucleon wave functions must contain orbital angular momentum. Any departure from SU6-invariant wave functions for proton and neutron not containing orbital angular momentum only enlarges the disagreement with experiment. © 1969 Società Italiana di Fisica.
