Recently, there has been a lot of discussions on Avalanche, a Microsoft prototype for large scale content distribution on a peer-topeer network that uses network coding as the core technology. In this paper, we present an analysis of Avalanche, showing that it achieves the theoretical lower bound on the file download time.
