Abstract

In the selection process of a team leader, competency models find their application, which guarantee the occupancy of this position by a person, who is actually able to perform this role. This paper aims to highlight the requirements to develop a competency model for the position of a team leader. The paper presents the results of a questionnaire survey, which was aimed at industrial enterprises in Slovakia. These results confirmed that a competency approach is not a common fact in industrial enterprises and also that industrial enterprises are interested in the development of a competency model for the position of a team leader and its consequential usage in the selection of a team leader. These findings represent a great challenge to improve human resource management in industrial enterprises in Slovakia, but also in developed Danube region as a part of Danube strategy.
